FAQ

  1. What is Scorched Reach?

Scorched Reach is a real-world GPS location game for iOS and Android. Players walk to real-world locations, which are mapped to post-apocalyptic ruins. They scavenge those ruins for resources, recruit NPCs, build shelters, and claim territory against other players in a shared, real-time world.

  2. What platforms is the game available on?

iOS and Android. Scorched Reach is a mobile game. No desktop or browser version is planned.

  3. How much does it cost?

Scorched Reach is free to download and free to play at Tier 1 (Drifter rank). Tier 2 and above require a subscription of $1/month or $10/year. There are no loot boxes, no in-app purchases, and no cosmetic store.

  4. What does T1 (free) actually include?

A T1 player has one Hideout shelter, six recruit slots, and twenty-five storage slots. The full game loop is available: GPS scavenging, NPC recruiting, shelter building, territory claiming, and real-time faction conflict. T1 is not a demo or a trial — it is the ground floor of the game with capacity limits.

  5. What does subscribing unlock?

Subscribing raises your rank ceiling above Drifter and unlocks Tier 2 progression and above. At higher tiers: expanded shelter capacity, more recruit slots, larger storage, and access to higher-rank gameplay. The core loop — scavenging, claiming, garrisoning, faction conflict — is available at every tier.

  6. Does the game require GPS? How much does it use my battery and data?

Yes. Scorched Reach requires your device's GPS to function — the game is built on real-world location. GPS usage affects battery life; expect higher than normal drain during active play. The app uses mobile data for map tiles, game state sync, and real-time world updates. We recommend playing on Wi-Fi or with a data plan that covers regular background usage. Exact figures vary by device and play session length.

  7. Can I switch factions?

Yes. Faction membership can be changed. Switching has consequences: you lose your garrison positions and standing in your previous faction, and your new faction starts with no record of your contributions. Some players never switch. Some switch tactically. The choice is yours and the game does not protect you from it.

  8. How do referral codes work?

Paid subscribers receive a referral code. When a friend uses your code and subscribes, you earn one free month added to your subscription. There is no limit on referral credits. Referral codes are not transferable for cash or in-game currency.

  9. When does the game launch?

We are not announcing a launch date. When the game is ready for a public launch, we will say so. If you want to be notified, sign up for the beta list.

  10. I found a bug. How do I report it?
